Dear U3A Moreland Members,
Term 2 Program Update
The Zoom Program for Term 2 is proving very successful, with thanks to all Members and Facilitators who have taken to the challenge of Zoom. We wish all our Programs could be on Zoom to enable contact with everyone, but it just doesn’t suit all groups.
We now have 8 Zoom groups running:
Sunday Lunch, Movie discussion group, Contemporary Australian Poetry, Contentious Ideas discussion group, Board Games, Painting and Drawing , Big Issues discussion group, Coffee Cuppa Conversation.
With two new groups coming up:
Enrolment for these programs has been re-opened. Please go to U3A Moreland website to log-in and enrol. For any queries email the Program Team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
SIX WORD MEMOIRS Facilitator: Maria Leopoldo
Friday 22nd May, 10.30am – 12.00pm
With the success of the Term 1 session Maria is offering this challenge to us again!
Ever felt like you’d like to write your story but don’t know where to start?
Ernest Hemingway was once asked to write his story in six words; his response:
‘For sale: baby shoes never worn’.
In 2006 Larry Smith, founder of SMITH magazine, asked his readers ‘Can you tell your story in six words?’
I have met with Larry and contributed to the Six Word Project for ten years. Larry Smith endorses this program.
And here’s the link to Larry Smith’s TED six word memoir project for a little inspiration. https://youtu.be/jR1V7lxsOu0
COFFEE CUPPA and CONVERSATION WEEKLY Facilitator: Melinda Venticich
This group will now be running weekly and welcomes you!
From Thursday 21 May, 10.30am – 12.00pm
Join our informal social ‘coffee’ group that will meet weekly on Zoom.
The lure of the cafe is replaced with a cuppa or a coffee on screen with friends. There is no shortage of interesting conversation although we do also have the activity ‘letter of the day’ when we each can bring a word to share and discuss the meaning.
Weekly attendance by new or current members is not expected but of course you are welcome!
If you have an idea for a Zoom group we would like to hear from you. In the meantime stay well, active and in touch.
